What must a landlord do when returning a security deposit?

When a tenant vacates a property and the landlord has no intention of making a claim against the security deposit, it must be returned to the tenant within 15 days, and include any interest earned

If the landlord intends to make a claim against the deposit the tenant must be notified within 30 days of the tenancy ending, by certified mail

If the tenant does not object within 15 days after receiving the notice of intention to make a claim against the deposit, the landlord may deduct the amount of the claim

The balance of the deposit after deduction of the claim must be returned to the tenant within 30 days of the notice of intention to make a claim
